Switching to DrBooks takes a short call, a few documents and one step from you, appointing Sleek as your nominated tax agent. You tell us how you earn and when your next lodgement is due, and we pick up your books from where your previous accountant left them.
What we need from you
- How you earn: PAYG, ABN, company, trust, or a mix
- Roughly what you bill through your business each year
- Which state you practise in and whether you have staff
- Who does your accounting today, and when your next lodgement is due
- Your most recent tax returns and BAS, if you have them
- Your authority to appoint Sleek as your nominated tax agent with the ATO

- Setting up the nomination so Sleek becomes your tax agent with the ATO
- Collecting the records we need, from you or, with your authority, from your previous accountant
- Setting up your books in Sleekbooks or Xero
- Confirming your lodgement dates and what’s due next

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to tell my current accountant?
It helps to let them know, but you don’t need to ask their permission. We’ll ask you for the records we need, and we can request copies from your previous accountant with your authority.
When is the best time to switch?
Any time, but switching well before your next lodgement gives your new accountant time to review your records. Tell us your next due date on the first call.
Will switching affect my lodgement due dates?
Your due dates depend on your situation. Your accountant confirms them, and what’s due next, once you’ve joined.
Can you take over a company or trust?
Yes. We look after companies and trusts that doctors use to bill, as well as sole traders.
What if my previous returns have mistakes?
We review your recent returns when you join. If something needs fixing, your accountant explains what and how before doing anything.
